What is a refill vs a zero waste swap?
A refill is a product sold by the ounce that can be delivered in one of our Second Wave containers or can be refilled directly into your container - like refilling your empty shampoo bottle.  A zero waste swap is a one time purchase that can replace a single use item - like replacing your dryer sheets with dryer balls.

I have my own container - how can I get that refilled?
Congratulations on your choice to be zero waste! First, shop for the products that you'd like to refill.  Estimate about how much product you'll need - it's ok if it ends up being more or less, you won't be charged until the refill is complete.  Select "I'll leave my container out for you to fill" in the Refill Options.  You'll see the price is automatically set to zero.  In your cart, use the "Special Instructions" field to let me know how I can find your container.  Containers should be left out ahead of your delivery window and clearly marked to make sure I get the right product in the right container.  I'll weigh your container before and after the refill and charge you for the difference.  Once complete, you'll receive an invoice via email.

Do I need to be home during delivery?
Nope! Just be sure you've left your clean, empty containers out in a visible space.  If there's more than one, please label which product goes where.

How do I know how much to order for my container?
Leave that up to us! We have listed prices by the weighted ounce (not the fluid ounce and why do we have two different types of ounces anyway??).  We will weigh your container before and after the refill so we only charge you for the difference in weight.  If you don't want us to exceed a certain cost, just let us know!

How do I pay when you refill my container?

At time of order, we charge for at least one ounce as a deposit. After we've completed your refill and know exactly how much you needed, we'll leave an invoice following delivery for the remaining amount. Invoices are due to be paid within one week. Subsequent orders will not be filled until the invoice has been paid.

I don't live in the delivery area, but I do work there. Can you delivery to my office?
For sure! Just leave clear instructions on where we can leave your empties or where we should drop everything off. If your work hours don't match our delivery hours, drop us an email (beth@secondwavevta.com) and we'll find something that works.

Where do I pick up?
The pick up location will be shared with you post purchase.  We're located at a private residence in the Elmhurst neighborhood (very close to Elmhurst Elementary).

Do you do events?
Heck yes! We'd love to introduce the joy of refills to your next event - book clubs, eco events, PTA meetings, just because!  Send us a message on our contact page to let us know what you have in mind. And we'll treat you to a host's gift to thank you for being a zero waste advocate.
